What happens when the battle doesn't end when you come home?
For some, the hardest battles aren't the ones fought overseas. They're the ones that follow us home, quietly shaping how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.
This week on Awakening Truths | MakeupyourPower Podcast, Nichole and Tina welcome Spotlight Guest Brandon Boucher—U.S. Navy veteran, engineer, entrepreneur, husband, father, healer practitioner, and co-founder of Unity Healing Institute.
But before Brandon became any of those things, he was a young man who believed deeply in service.
Inspired by his grandfather, Brandon's path began as a junior firefighter and paramedic before leading him into the U.S. Navy. He had a vision for his future, including becoming a Navy SEAL, until an injury during training changed everything.
It was the first of many times life would challenge the identity he had built.
Following September 11, Brandon was unexpectedly recalled to active duty and deployed in support of Joint Special Operations Command.
And while his military service eventually ended, the battle within him continued.
Brandon opens up about the realities of returning home: nightmares, anger, alcohol use as a way of coping, losing fellow service members after deployment, and eventually receiving a diagnosis of moderate-to-severe PTSD.
For years, anger had become so familiar that he almost didn't recognize what it felt like to live without it.
After exploring different approaches to healing, Brandon began questioning whether managing his symptoms was the only possibility for his future.
That question eventually led this analytical, engineering-minded man somewhere he never expected.
Into meditation. Into energy work. Into spirituality. And into a different relationship with himself.
Through his experiences with the Modern Mystery School, Life Activation, and other spiritual practices, Brandon describes moments that changed how he understood his trauma, his identity, and his personal responsibility.
But this isn't a story about pretending the past didn't happen.
It's about what happens when someone begins asking a different question:
"What do I choose to do with my life now?"
Throughout this conversation, Brandon challenges us to explore the difference between what happens to us and how we choose to move forward. He speaks about military brotherhood, grief, personal accountability, conscious living, spiritual awakening, and the importance of becoming an active participant in our own lives.
And perhaps one of the most powerful parts of his story is the realization that we can accept support from others while still recognizing our own role in the choices we make.
Find What Resonates
At Awakening Truths, we believe every story carries something different for the person listening.
You don't have to share every belief, understand every experience, or follow the same path as our guests to find something meaningful in their journey.
As you listen to Brandon's story, we invite you to reflect:
Have you ever felt like a part of your identity disappeared when life took an unexpected turn?
Are there experiences from your past that continue to influence how you see yourself today?
What might become possible if you began defining yourself by who you're becoming rather than only by what you've survived?
Take what speaks to you. Reflect on what challenges you. Leave what doesn't align.
Because healing, growth, and personal transformation don't look the same for everyone.
And sometimes hearing someone else's story helps us recognize something within our own.
Your past may explain how you got here. But it doesn't have to write the rest of your story.

What happens when the person who has spent decades helping others heal must first find her own way through the darkness?
And what if the very experiences you once begged to escape eventually became part of the wisdom you could offer someone else?
In this deeply personal Spotlight Guest episode of Awakening Truths | MakeupyourPower Podcast, hosts Nichole Lynn Haywood and Tina Akowitz welcome Erica M Zernzach, founder of A Right Path Wellness, for an honest conversation about chronic illness, trauma, spiritual awakening, shadow work, and the journey from survival toward purpose.
For more than 30 years, Erica has worked within holistic health and wellness.
But her understanding of healing wasn't shaped by education and professional experience alone.
It was lived.
Through chronic Lyme disease, mold toxicity, trauma, and profound periods of emotional and physical suffering, Erica found herself navigating experiences that challenged her understanding of life, faith, and her own strength.
There were moments when the darkness felt overwhelming.
And there were moments when she came face-to-face with her own mortality.
Three Words That Changed Everything
After being struck by a truck and severely injured, Erica remembers seeing headlights, struggling to breathe, and recognizing the fragility of the moment.
And within that experience came a decision:
"I choose to live."
Those words became more than a response to one frightening experience.
They became part of a much larger journey of learning to choose herself, reconnect with her inner strength, and reconsider what healing truly means.
Erica takes us beyond the image of the healer who always has the answers and into the reality of being human.
The pain. The fear. The uncertainty. The shadow.
And the realization that healing doesn't always mean eliminating our struggles.
Sometimes it means changing how we relate to ourselves as we move through them.
In This Conversation, We Explore:
Chronic Lyme disease, mold toxicity, and navigating long-term health challenges
Trauma, survival, and rebuilding a relationship with yourself
Spiritual awakening through difficult life experiences
Shadow work and embracing the parts of ourselves we may have learned to hide
Faith versus fear and learning to trust ourselves through uncertainty
Near-death experiences and finding renewed meaning in life
The emotional weight of feeling responsible for healing others
Personal responsibility without shame or self-blame
The relationship between spirituality, self-awareness, and emotional healing
Releasing the pressure to have everything figured out
Transforming lived experience into compassion and service
Taking small, meaningful steps toward personal growth
The Shadow Behind the Healer
One of the most meaningful parts of Erica's story is her willingness to speak about the experiences that aren't always visible behind a healer's work.
The seasons when life wasn't simply "love and light."
The times when she struggled to find hope.
And the realization that she couldn't do someone else's healing for them, just as no one could completely do hers for her.
Through her experiences, Erica began approaching her work from a different perspective.
Her role isn't to give people their power. It's to help them recognize the power they already carry.
It's a message that beautifully reflects the heart of Awakening Truths.
We can offer support, compassion, and guidance to one another without taking away another person's agency.
You Don't Have to Change Everything Today
During our conversation, Erica guides us through a reflective reset, inviting us to reconsider the weight of our worries and the pressure we place on ourselves.
Her message is simple:
You don't need to change 100% of your life today. Find the next 10%. Take the next step.
Sometimes growth doesn't arrive through one extraordinary breakthrough.
Sometimes it begins with one choice, one shift in perspective, or one small act of self-compassion.
And when asked what she would tell her younger self, Erica's answer carries the wisdom of everything she has lived:
"Don't worry. Keep going."
Perhaps that's what awakening can look like.
Not escaping every difficult experience.
Not pretending the darkness never existed.
But discovering that our experiences don't have to define the limits of who we can become.
From pain to awakening. From survival to self-discovery. From lived experience to service.
Erica's story reminds us that healing isn't always about becoming someone different.
Sometimes it's about reconnecting with the person who has been there through it all.

What happens when the career you've built your entire identity around is no longer the path you're meant to follow?
For more than 23 years, Tanuuj K Grover knew himself as a professional chef. His world revolved around precision, timing, measurements, and creating something meaningful through food.
But when career setbacks, financial uncertainty, and unexpected closed doors began challenging everything he had built, Tanuuj found himself facing a question many of us eventually encounter:
Who am I when the life I knew begins to change?
This week on Awakening Truths | MakeupyourPower Podcast, Nichole and Tina welcome Spotlight Guest Tanuuj K Grover, founder of Revum, for a conversation about identity, resilience, numerology, and discovering purpose through life's unexpected redirections.
After nearly two years of uncertainty, Tanuuj began exploring a different path through astrology, Tarot, ancient numerology, Numero Vastu, and Remedial Feng Shui.
What began as a personal search for understanding eventually became a new way of serving others.
As Tanuuj shares:
"Before I was making a food recipe. Now I'm making a cosmic recipe."
Throughout this conversation, we explore the emotional experience of losing a familiar identity, the importance of our internal dialogue, and how setbacks can sometimes invite us to reconsider the direction we're moving.
Tanuuj also introduces the principles behind his numerology work, including birth numbers, destiny numbers, and name correction. Tina joins him for a real-time numerology exploration, giving listeners a glimpse into how he approaches his practice.
But beyond the numbers and spiritual practices, this conversation is about something deeply human.
Learning to trust yourself when the path ahead looks nothing like the one you planned.

Find What Resonates
At Awakening Truths, we believe every story offers something different to the person listening.
As you hear Tanuuj's journey, we invite you to reflect:
Have you ever experienced a setback that caused you to question your identity or direction?
Are you holding on to a version of yourself that may no longer reflect who you're becoming?
What if a closed door isn't always the end of your story, but an invitation to explore something different?
You don't have to share every belief or follow the same path to find meaning in someone else's experiences.
Take what speaks to you. Reflect on what challenges you. Leave what doesn't align.
Because sometimes the next chapter begins when we become willing to see our lives through a different lens.
Maybe the recipe for your future isn't the one you originally planned.
And maybe that's where something new begins.

What if the numbers you've been working with your entire life were preparing you for a purpose you never saw coming?
For more than 23 years, Tanuuj K Grover lived in a world of numbers.
Measurements. Proportions. Temperatures. Timing. The precise balance of ingredients that could transform something ordinary into an extraordinary creation.
As a chef, numbers were part of his everyday life.
But what happens when the recipe you've followed for decades no longer produces the life you thought you were creating?
When career uncertainty, financial pressure, and closed doors began challenging everything Tanuuj knew, he found himself confronting a question so many of us face during life's unexpected transitions:
Who am I when the identity I've spent years building no longer fits?
Then, shortly after Christmas, something unexpected happened.
Tanuuj woke one morning with a quiet but unmistakable inner message:
"It's a new beginning."
He didn't know exactly what that meant. But something within him knew it was time to listen.
And what followed wasn't simply a career change.
It was an awakening.
From the Kitchen to the Cosmos
In this Spotlight Guest episode of Awakening Truths | Makeupyourpower Podcast, hosts Nichole Lynn Haywood and Tina Akowitz welcome Tanuuj K Grover, founder of REVUM, for a conversation about spiritual awakening, numerology, identity, intuition, and finding purpose when life takes an unexpected turn.
What began as a search for answers led Tanuuj into the study of astrology, tarot, numerology, Vastu, and Feng Shui.
The deeper he explored, the more he began recognizing patterns within his own life, including intuitive experiences he remembered from his teenage years.
And suddenly, the numbers he had worked with for decades began taking on an entirely different meaning.
Where he once measured ingredients, he now explores birth numbers, destiny numbers, and energetic patterns.
Where he once created recipes to nourish the body, he now works with what he calls a "cosmic recipe."
Perhaps the most fascinating part of his story isn't that he became someone new.
It's that the skills, experiences, and awareness he carried all along began finding a new expression.
In This Conversation, We Explore:
Career transitions and rebuilding your identity after 23 years in one profession
Spiritual awakening and learning to recognize an inner calling
Numerology and the symbolic meaning of numbers
Birth numbers, destiny numbers, and master numbers
The Lo Shu Grid and how Tanuuj interprets its patterns
Name numerology and personal energetic alignment
Vastu and Feng Shui
Synchronicities, repeating numbers, and intuitive awareness
The influence of negative self-talk during difficult seasons
Finding purpose after setbacks and unexpected endings
Trusting the process when life's direction no longer makes sense
When Numbers Become Personal
Tanuuj doesn't simply explain numerology.
He demonstrates it.
During our conversation, he walks Tina through her personal numbers in real time, using her date of birth to explain how he interprets birth numbers, destiny numbers, and the Lo Shu Grid.
What unfolds is an opportunity to explore how numerology practitioners use numbers as symbolic tools for reflection, self-awareness, and understanding patterns.
Whether you're familiar with numerology or hearing about it for the first time, this conversation invites curiosity about the relationship between the patterns we notice and the meaning we give them.
The Most Important Ingredient Was Within Him
One of the most meaningful parts of Tanuuj's journey wasn't discovering a new spiritual practice.
It was recognizing the way he had been speaking to himself.
During his most challenging season, he realized how often his internal dialogue had become critical, discouraging, and focused on everything that wasn't working.
He began questioning whether the story he was telling himself was helping him move forward or keeping him connected to the very identity he was trying to outgrow.
When asked what he would tell his younger self, Tanuuj shared:
"Setbacks aren't the dead end at all. My own personal experience is just the time to recalibrate and align your path."
And perhaps his most beautiful reflection connects the two chapters of his life:
"Before I was making a food recipe, now I'm making a cosmic recipe."
What if awakening isn't about throwing away everything we've been?
What if every experience, every closed door, every skill we've developed, and even the moments we thought we had failed were ingredients preparing us for something we couldn't yet see?
Maybe the recipe wasn't wrong.
Maybe life was simply asking us to create something different.
And maybe the numbers were telling a story all along.

What happens when the life that once defined you no longer exists—and you're left asking who you are underneath it all?
In this deeply reflective Spotlight Guest episode of Awakening Truths | MakeupyourPower Podcast, hosts Nichole Lynn Haywood and Tina Akowitz welcome Summer, founder of Just Be True, intuitive teacher, spiritual mentor, Reiki practitioner, and sound healing facilitator.
For more than two decades, Summer built a life around familiar roles, responsibilities, and expectations. But when life began shifting, she found herself facing a question many of us eventually encounter:
Who am I when the life I've known no longer feels like mine?
Through her journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening, Summer explores what it means to reconnect with yourself beyond the identities you've carried, the expectations you've fulfilled, and the experiences that have shaped you.
Her story invites us into the space between who we were and who we're becoming—a place that can feel uncertain, uncomfortable, and profoundly transformative.
In this conversation, we explore:
Rediscovering your identity after major life transitions
Spiritual awakening and learning to trust your inner knowing
Releasing expectations and roles that no longer fit
Moving through grief, uncertainty, and emotional change
The relationship between healing, self-awareness, and personal growth
Reiki, sound healing, and reconnecting with yourself
Learning to honor your authentic truth without needing everyone's approval
Summer's journey reminds us that losing the familiar doesn't necessarily mean losing ourselves. Sometimes, it creates the opportunity to discover who we've been beneath it all.
You are allowed to change. You are allowed to begin again. And you are allowed to become someone your past self couldn't yet imagine.
If you're navigating a life transition, questioning your identity, or feeling called toward something you can't quite explain, this conversation offers space to reflect on your own unfolding journey.

What happens when you realize no one is coming to save you—and that realization becomes the beginning of your freedom?
In this powerful Spotlight Guest episode of Awakening Truths | Makeupyourpower Podcast, hosts Nichole Lynn Haywood and Tina Akowitz welcome Donna Kreisler, entrepreneur, business consultant, speaker, and transformation leader.
Donna's story is one of resilience, self-discovery, and reclaiming personal power.
After navigating difficult relationships, divorce, single motherhood, and financial hardship, Donna found herself rebuilding her life with approximately $300.
At one point, she weighed more than 350 pounds. Through a journey of self-reflection, personal responsibility, and consistent action, she went on to lose approximately 150 pounds while rebuilding her confidence, independence, and professional life.
But her transformation wasn't simply about weight, money, or success.
It was about changing the story she had been telling herself.
The belief that she wasn't enough.
The patterns that kept her feeling powerless.
And the realization that waiting for someone or something to change her circumstances was keeping her disconnected from her own ability to create change.
In this conversation, we explore:
Rebuilding your life after divorce, financial hardship, and personal setbacks
Recognizing the difference between self-responsibility and self-blame
Breaking free from limiting beliefs and old identities
Moving from survival mode into intentional living
How small, consistent actions build confidence
Shifting from scarcity thinking toward a prosperity mindset
Discovering purpose through the experiences that once felt impossible to overcome
Donna's journey reminds us that transformation doesn't require a perfect beginning. Sometimes it begins with one decision: to stop waiting and start participating in your own life.
Your past may have shaped you, but it doesn't have to define where you go next.
Whether you're navigating a major life transition, rebuilding after loss, or questioning whether it's too late to begin again, this conversation offers an invitation to recognize the power you already carry.

🎙️ Awakening Truths | Makeup Your Power Podcast
What if the greatest thing holding you back isn't your past—but the story you've been telling yourself about it?
In today's heartfelt conversation, Nichole, Tina, and Stephanie explore how our inner narratives shape our relationships, self-worth, communication, and the life we're creating. Together, they discuss why so many of us remain attached to outdated identities, fear difficult conversations, and continue repeating emotional patterns that no longer serve us.
With Mercury Retrograde in Cancer and Saturn calling us into greater responsibility, this episode invites you to slow down, reflect, and question the beliefs you've inherited. Are they truly yours—or are they simply familiar?
In this episode, we explore:
✨ The stories that silently shape your identity✨ How childhood experiences create unconscious emotional scripts✨ Why self-worth and boundaries are deeply connected✨ The courage to communicate with honesty instead of fear✨ Letting go of relationships that no longer align with your growth✨ How grief often accompanies personal transformation✨ Recognizing when you're performing instead of expressing your authentic self✨ Practical ways to pause before reacting and respond from awareness instead of old wounds
This conversation is an invitation to release outdated narratives and begin creating a life that reflects who you are becoming—not who you've been conditioned to be.
Reflection Questions:• What story do you keep telling yourself that no longer feels true?• Is that belief helping you grow—or keeping you safe?• What relationship, habit, or identity are you ready to release?• What would change if you truly believed you were already enough?
Your story is powerful—but it isn't permanent.
You have permission to evolve.

After taking time for rest, reflection, and reset, we're back with a powerful conversation about one of life's biggest questions: Who am I becoming?
As Mercury Retrograde moves through Cancer and Saturn asks us to take responsibility for our lives, we're invited to examine the identities we've inherited versus the ones we're consciously choosing. How much of who you are today was shaped by childhood, family expectations, cultural conditioning, or survival? And what parts are truly yours?
In this episode, Nichole and Tina explore:
The difference between inherited identity and authentic identityWhy self-worth is your most valuable internal currencyBreaking free from people-pleasing and performance-based livingSetting boundaries without guilt or shameHow failure becomes the doorway to growth—not the end of your storyWhy confusion often signals expansion instead of failureThe importance of slowing down, reflecting, and allowing transformation to unfoldHow current astrological energies are encouraging us to revisit old beliefs about safety, belonging, visibility, and self-worth
Together, we discuss how healing isn't about becoming someone new—it's about remembering who you've always been beneath the conditioning.
This episode is an invitation to stop performing for acceptance and begin living from authenticity. Your greatest investment isn't what you own—it's the relationship you cultivate with yourself.
Reflection Questions:
Which parts of your identity genuinely belong to you, and which were inherited?
What beliefs about yourself are you ready to challenge?
Where are you giving your energy away without receiving nourishment in return?
What would it look like to fully choose yourself?
Your becoming isn't a destination—it's a daily practice of choosing your truth.
